The Bible's position on the occult Reviewed
Today, many people dabble in the mystical, occultic arts. Is there anything wrong with being involved in these practices? Yes, the Bible takes a clear position on this subject, strongly denouncing these practices. God created us and therefore owns us. He has a right to set the rules for our lives. God's Word indicates that these practices are part of Satan's strategy of evil tricks and deception, designed to lead us astray. Satan and his demons are real beings set on our destruction. Christians are warned to "put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Concerning occult practices, the Israelites were told:
“When you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. Research has shown that occult magic is often fraudulent and deceitful illusion - counterfeit miracles. Many books have been written on this subject. In some instances, occult magic or divination are a manifestation of demonic powers or the result of demon possession (Acts 16:16). Of course, the power of Satan and his demons is extremely limited compared to God's power.
Those who follow the path of the magic arts are on the wrong path - a road that leads away from God, not toward Him. In one way or another, the end will be disaster. The evil Queen Jezebel practiced witchcraft (2 Kings 9:22) bringing catastrophe on herself and all Israel. Over and over, God denounces those who “conjure spells” (NKJV) and those who practice witchcraft and sorcery. The Bible says that anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord (Deuteronomy 18:10-12; 2 Kings 21:6; Micah 5:12; Isaiah 47:12; Ezekiel 13:18, 20; Acts 8:11-24; Leviticus 20:27; Exodus 7:11; Revelation 9:21; 22:15).
God warns of the ultimate punishment. Revelation 21:8 says of "…those who practice magic arts …their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur… the second death" (NIV). Those who practice witchcraft (sorcery) will not inherit the kingdom of God (Galatians 5:20-21). These practices are anti-God and are in rebellion against Him.
Many of citizens of ancient Ephesus practiced the magic arts. Those who became Christians realized the foolish error of their former lives and burned their expensive books of magic as the trash they were (Acts 19:19).
The Bible tells how the apostle Paul once dealt with one of these deceivers, a sorcerer and false prophet who led people astray. "Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said, O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time.' And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand" (Acts 13:9-11).

The Bible condemns and forbids these practices several times (Deuteronomy 18:9-14; Isaiah 44:25; Jeremiah 27:9; 2 Kings 21:6; 23:24). Divination and Spiritism were despised practices of the heathens (Ezekiel 21:21; Isaiah 19:3; 1 Samuel 28). Scripture says that one of the reasons King Saul died was "because he consulted a medium for guidance" rather than God (1 Chronicles 10:13-14).

God calls the word of diviners “nonsense,” “lies” and “deception” for foolish people (Ezekiel 13:8; Jeremiah 14:14; Isaiah 44:25). God said, "Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!" (Ezekiel 13:3). If an Israelite lived the deceitful practice of being a medium, it was punishable by death (Leviticus 20:27). The presence of a medium or spiritist among God's people of Israel was considered a defilement (Leviticus 19:31). All these practices take people further from their Creator, the true and living God.
Following omens or signs
We are not to look to omens or “signs” to direct our lives. The Bible reprimands people for doing this. It is an “abomination” and foolishness (Deuteronomy 18:10-12). Look to God and His instructions for life as provided in the Bible. To do otherwise is to foolishly deceive yourself, or allow Satan and others to deceive you.

False Teachers Come & Go,But The Word of God last Forever
False teachers of the Past...
Joseph Smith,-claimed that god was wrong,and satan was right
Albert Estien,-claimed that there was no way anyone could tell what it was that held the universe together,
Adolph Hitler,-claimed that one race of people was inferior to another,blamed others for his mistakes,and bad decisions in life
Joseph Stalin,-claimed he was better than god,that his race was inferior to others,that his country was the best,and blamed all the worlds problems on everyone,but himself
False teachers of the Present...
Wareen,-claims that he knows the mathematical code found in the scripture as to the LORD's return,and still keeps on predicting date after date as to when this will be.. (Warren was wrong before and he still is now)
J. O.,-claims that answers to all your problems are found within yourself,and that you will be rich and prosperous if you look to yourself,and by reading books he published, and sending a lot of money to fund his program on the television station,and online as well (does not use any Bible verses at all when he preaches and dares to call himself "a pastor", he is not a biblically sound pastor than, he is what the scripturs call a false prophet, and teacher.),claims any illness is from searching yourself enough,and says sin is something people made up for the sake of explaining the unnecesary guilt that they will not let go of
B.H.-claims that people just need to satisfy thier lusts,to meditate,and to relax more,
O. W.-claims that each person can look for thier own way to heaven, that there is no one way there, that someone just made that up to make everyone else look bad, for no reason,says that if you want to sleep better just try whatever you want as long as it makes you happy,and isn't dangerous.
W.G.,-claims that you just need to have fun in life,exercise,and to eat right, for that is all that really matters is the here and now
Others,claim that you just need to exercise, eat right,get plenty of rest,have fun,relax, remember to meditate,and not judge others, and you will be fine.
*Truths:No manner of physical exercise,healthy eating, relaxation,etc. will ever be enough to earn God's favor.

False Teachings Still Exist
Some people thank that false teachings are only a thing of the past!
*They are mistaken,big time.
*False Teachings "Cults" are made up daily.
*They all involve works as a means of salvation.
*They all make a mockery out of the Bible.
*They either say little,or nothing about heaven,or hell.
*Some include worship of nature,ancestors,and the moon and stars.
*Others include worship of yourself.
*They all have a false sense of reality.
*They all teach lies about God.
*They have different views about how sin is defined.
*They lead people astray from the faith with their cunning words.
*They promise things that they can never give you.
* They make fun of people who do not follow after their teachings.
* Try to get people interested in their beliefs.
* Teach that one person's way to happiness, may be different than someone elses.
*Accuse others of intolerance for not accepting their beliefs.
* They usually have a blend of some truth mixed with fiction.

In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example to those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. In the very same way, these dreamers pollute thier own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings."
*Jude verses 9-16 "But even the archangel Michael,when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, The Lord rebuke you! Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals-these are the very things that destroy them. Woe to them! These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm-shepherds who feed only themselves. They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up thier shame; wandering stars,for whom balckest darkness has been reserved forever. Enoch, the seventh from Adam,prophesied about these men: See the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him. These men are grumblers and faultfinders;they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter other for their own advantage."
*Jude verses 17-19 " But,dear friends,remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires. These are the men who divide you,who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit."
*Matthew 6:15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing,but inwardly they are fericous wolves." Warning to watch out for false prophets!
*Acts 6:13 "They produced false witnesses, who testiftied,This fellow nevers stops speaking against this holy place and against the law."
*II Corinthians 11: 4-5 "For if someone comes to you and preaches another Jesus other than the Jesus we have preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel than the one you accepted, yout put with it easily enough. But do not think I am the least inferior to those super-apostles. I may not be a trained speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have made this perfecly clear to you in every way."
* II Corinthians 11:13-15 "For such men are false apostles,deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not suprising,then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what thier actions deserve."
*Galatians 1:6-9 "I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusin and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said,so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!"
*Galatians 5:18-20 "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious:sexual immorality,impuirty and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred,discord,jealousy, fits of rage,selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drukeness, orgies, and the like. I warn you,as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."
*Colossians 2:8 "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ." -Warning not to let others lead you astray by worldly teachings.
* I Timothy 1:3-7 "As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work-which is by faith. Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law,but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm."
*I Thessalonians 5:21 "Test everything. Hold on to the good."
*Luke 21:8 " He replied, Watch out that you are not decived. For many will come in my name,claiming,'I am he,'and,'The time is near.' Do not follow them."
